Huh? RM 50 for RON95 Esso will give me 50 pts but RON95 Petronas for the same value will be only worth 26 pts (RM50 / 1.90)?

EDIT: Nevermind...just found out the answer at their website. Their Mesra points are such a rip-off.

5. How can I earn Mesra points?
You can collect Mesra points at all PETRONAS stations with any purchase of fuel and, or Kedai Mesra items* by using either cash or PETRONAS co-branded credit cards.

Points earned through purchase of fuel
1 litre = 1 point

Points earned through purchase of Kedai Mesra items
RM1 = 1 point

Some leaking info from a petro-chemistry fren company researched on Malaysia petrol...

(No) (Brand) (Grade) (Hydro-Carbon %) (Efficiency) (Performance)
1) Shell - A - 94.7% - Good 92% - Good 90%
2) Petronas - A - 94.8% - Very Good 95% - Good 85 %
3) BHP - A - 95.0% - Very Good 98% - Good 88%
4) Esso Mobil - A - 95.0% - Very Good 97% - Good 85%
5) Caltex - A - 94.8% - Very Good 95% - Good 88%

Hydro-carbon = Percentage of actual RON (Lead) closest to 95% is best
Efficiency = How fast it burn, the higher % the faster (more explosive)
Performance = How complete it burn, the higher % better (less smoke)

There aren't best or worst to choose...
My personal all time favour petrol station is Esso / Mobil cause Tiger Power!!! Of cause the Smile Point =)

But based on most of ppl result and my personal experience...

The new Shell really increase yor mileage but poor performance compare to previous Shell RON 95, by May 2011

The Petronas is really extra long mileage if u going for outstation, additional 5-7% extra milage but slow respond kick in when "Potong" other car...

The BHP so called Infiniti 2x, felt more pick-up and responsive but low mileage

The Esso Mobil just good in pick-up and kinda responsive average milage

The Caltex, damn good engine cleaner with acceptable good mileage but no suitable for heavy footer, like car engine lag respond...

In this case, just shop at the Kedai Mesra for items to collect the points. When enough points, use those points for free Petronas fuel lor..... Afterall, RM1 = 1 Point against RM1.90 = 1 Point.... He! He!

Btw, just curious but what happens if you mix the petrols?

Hey JCmuffins...

Driving a Pertrol car, u can mixed with Diesel... Not really worried just you can will sound weird wil many black soot (smoke) due to high hydro-carbon burning as petrol engine runs on high combustion. Your engine will have some jerking sound and fire-balsting feeling some even like "pop pop"sound from the exhaust system, yet your can feel weak like no pwower at all. Anyway once you notice you wrongly fill the diesel to petrol engine you can just ask any tow-truck to send you to work shop and remove all the diesel from your oil tank... Indeed can bargain with them and pay them in a small amount cause you are giving them your diesel for "FOC" so just pay them maybe RM10 will do to remove all your diesel from your tank.

Then fill will low grade petrol like RON 95 for Malaysia (preferable RON 92) bu quarter tank and start a slow drive, refill 1/4 tank for 3-4 times untill all diesel stains remove, never drive you can in high speed or high RPM in order to protect your valves & spark plug...

Usually this hardly happened in Malaysia as our DIESEL pump is place faraway and diesel smell are so different!

In 4WD member for Indo-China, these happened to many members as different 4WD required different fuel, some petrol some diesel and in country like Thai / Vietnam or Cambodia most Fuel Station have petrol & diesel at the same pump. Yet the staff there just pump into your car without asking either your 4WD is petrol or diesel... I bet you know most Mistubishi / Toyota used petrol whil Isuzu are on diesel...

Never pump Petrol into diesel car... U need to save it quick else situation are terrible!!! Smile

I'm not "Shell"supporter...

But, once awhile do used V-Power or BHP Infiniti 97 to flush your valve & engine system... Bear in mind just a jam-traffic aren't good for Ford engine whcih are design for longer run...

This is the different between general passengar car Mazda & Ford engine.. Beside those racing rotary Mazda, dun play play with the 1.3L Rotary~
