Ford Fiesta Warranty Cautions... VOID?!

Dear all,

Not to boost I've been driving Ford for some times also FoMEC,and I've some frenz in SDAC include Spare Part Team, Service Manager & Sales Team... Just visited yesterday to try the S-Max as my dad wanted to get a MPV & to buy the Fiesta side mirror (scratch by a driver, anyway he going to pay...)

Ask them bout Fiesta issues or problems arrise...

For time being many problems arrise in gearbox (leaking & clutch problem - so far 30 units claimed), engine (some got problem - so far 3 units claimed) and wheel area (humming sound, drive shaft & etc)... NO WORRIES all can be claim as 3 years warranty programme...

What make you car can't be claimed?

The Thailand built is not up to standard yet?
Tom yum is sour and spicy. Does our Fiesta get the same taste?
Fofi owners are getting worried and concern for the quality does not meet EXPORT level.
Let's see what happen within our warranty.
I hope we can afford Fofi always.

So what do we can & can't do in order to avoid the warranty issue...

Exterior Body :

1) Bodykit - No issue, add as you like
2) Vinly or sticker - No issue, stick add you like
3) Visor / Weathershield - No issue
4) Mud guard - No issue
5) Eye Lids - No issue
6) [/b]Paint - Exterior Touch Up Only!!!

Interior Body:

1) Door Scuff - Chrome Plate Scuff Only
2)Lighted FIESTA Door Scuff - Warranty might void if electronic part failure, factory might put the blame on current overload for non-original loading!!!
3) Room Lamp - Can change to LED, no issue
4) ICE - Add on of woofer, sub-woofer, amp, equalizer, head rest display & etc will cause warranty on car electronic to be void, include dashboard display & center info display unit (Happened on one car, which cause the centre info display amber color dimmed down (like burnt out LED) which are not claimable!!
5) Any device which draw more than 15 Amps from the Socket might burnt the or melt the fuse compartment - BEWARE!!! (Warranty void!)[b]

Wheels:

1) Changing of Sport Rims - Same size 15"to 15" for SEDAN & 16"to 16", max tyre size allowed 205/45/R16 - No issue, PROVIDED offset not hitting the fender or mudguards area!!!
2) Oversize rims 17" onwards - Warranty on Alligntment (include chamber, toes, arm) will be void, Supension (coil spring, absorber, latch, stabilzer bar) will be void, Brake (caliper, pad, drum, hose) all will be void & cosmetic aka "BREMBO" will also void your from disc brake if the material effect the braking system.
3) Others - No spacer allowed, warranty void also no changing to 5 Lugs system.
4) Rear drum repaint - Allowed
5) Tyres Max Size - 205/45/R16 on 16"Rims

Engine Bay:

1) No Re-Painting - Everything is the engine bay aren't allow to be touch, repainting works will lift the engine & distrub all the system include engine & gearbox all warrnty void!
2) Intake - Mod to Open Pod System will void the inlet part include valve, sensor & piston BEWARE. If you upgrade to K&N, Pipercross & Ayam drop-in no issue. Manifold - please don't disturb!
3) Battery - During the first 3 years warranty programme our battery (imported as claimed, tag at around RM370.00-390.00) is only entitled for 1 year. After that you can change at your service centre for the same battery to continue the 3 years warranty programme. Becareful as SDAC advice some SC will sell cheaper brand about RM280~320 please don;t take that battery else warranty will be void too due to unstable input, electronics parts like ECU, sensor, display will not be claimable!
4) Ground Cable - If nothing happen you are lucky man, please don't install for the first 3 years. If youinstall do remove it, will be void as SC will recorded it especially SDAC (Dun play play!!!) If one day you try to claime for electronic part they will void it as you have previously install grounding cable in faulty method and lead to electronics spoilage - BEWARE!!!

wow, thats an incredible piece of info. So i guess if we change the headlamps to projector lenses without adding on HID lights, it will not void warranty?i am no expert in mechanical issues like this hehe

Well more to add:

Others item that void:

1) Changing new horn ( Hella / PIAA / FIAMM ) with added relay [which tap from battery termminal] also void your warranty including 1st year warranty on ur MF-Battery
2) Adding / changing car alarm system or anti-theft / GPS tarcking will also void your centre locking & alarm system warranty
3) Rear LEFT Fog-light which drawn 21W also void your lighting & electronics warranty... Be careful for those who install, you can remove the wiring if there anything wrong before send for claims otherwise SUSAH man!!!
4) Exhaust - you can add on tail but after the rear muffler pipping area only
5) Suspension - not the time to upgrade either, remain ori if you want to claims for free parts in future...

What can be claimed...

Wear & Tear parts: (I loved this)

1) Brake Pads (Front disc brake pad), tekan ur brake kau-kau if u like downhill
2) Brake Lining (Rear drum brake, but hard to spoiled)
3) Suspension - Absorber & spring
4) Wiper
5) Malfunctioning central looking - flapping side mirror, door locking programme, alarm siren (Horn) & etc

Wear & Tear parts (cont)

6) Tyres - below 1000km (claims on continental)
7) Wheel alignment - below 1500km
Battery - 12 months from delivery dates...
9) Air-cond (leaking, hot, etc)
10) Light bulb - subjected to kilometres driven or month not exceed 3 months, if any light blown!!!

Wear & Tear parts (cont)

11) Engine & gearbox up to 3 year or 60,000km
12) Exhaust system (CAT, Muffler)
13) Electronics system (includeing ECU, reverse sensor, radio & etc...)
14) Timing belts, flywheel, pulley, mounting & etc
15) Maintenance parts like air filter, sparkplug, oil filter & etc

Be notice, some part are free but labour cost may apply like engine mounting...

Non wear & tear parts (Claimable):

1) Humming sound (NVH - noise, vibration & harness)
2) Power window failure (so far only 2 cases reported in Malaysia, due to wiring clips connection BRAVO!!!)
3) Water slipping in...
4) Display unit failed
5) Etc... Kenot remember adi hahahaaa...

Will these chassis bar affect on the warranty too?

U said the engine and transmission warranty are not covered up to 100,000 KM?
So, what does 100,000 KM warranty will be covered?

Certain or most of the information you got it which was not mentioned in our KNS book at all. We did not agree or sign-off any agreement regarding that warranty policy. How could we know? Am I right or not?
This information did not informed and stated in BLACK and WHITE papers. We just knew this information with unofficial to owners. This did not listed in our KNS book at all. The most important major and minor services are also not stated at all for the service interval, which mileage should we service?

Btw, I like this piece of information but it is still not clear enough. It is not a firm information.

I'm just an owner too, buy 2nd hand car only - poorman no money..

I get this info from Service & Parts ppl, how true I can't 100% assure but to make it more useful info, pls ask SDAC while u service & let update here...

If i change my suspension to a eibach suspension, would it void my warranty?

Chrisgohtm, u better called to ask for 100% confirmed...
I scared later urr arm or driveshaft they will also blame on you, dun forget many of our drive shaft is rusted =(
Touch wood anything happened, den dunno how much too bear...

Wait till void la just 3 years else drive daily

HI i dont know where u get the information but i check the website .

Battery failure within the first 3 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first, will be covered under warranty.
Ford Parts and Accessories Warranty – 1 year or 20,000 km, whichever comes first and MUST be purchased from and serviced by an Authorized Ford Dealer.
All new Ford vehicles come with a standard 3 years warranty or 100,000 km whichever
comes first.

if ford website Misleading us ,we can sue them right ?

No.. some car come with 3+3 EWP =)
like fiesta, focus, mondeo, s-max
