Transmission Malfunction

Fiesta LX Sedan 1.6AT

Mileage 80+K

Out of the sudden the transmission failed. I can only move forward with "L" gear and can't reverse at all. Thank goodness I wasn't on the highway.

I would like to find out if it's true. I was told that even though there's an additional 2 years extended warranty it does not cover the gear box.
