Post by onefarid 2011-03-11, 12:32 am

I am a new fiesta owner, just got my fiesta entry level manual 1.4 lx, my problem is, about lock & unlock button on dashboard, when i push button once and yellow light will on and car is in lock mode, but....it only lock from outside and the door can still be open using level handle from inside ( all 4 doors), is this standard locking system of fiesta or my fiesta locking system not working well...anyone please advice...

onefarid, its standard. most european cars like dat like bmw as well. its a safety feature for the occupants to open door from inside in case of emergency or accidents and avoid trapped if door lock fail.

if u need to lock from inside, u can manually use child lock Smile

Do you guys know that the alarm system can be programmed to only unlock the driver's side only? Not sure how it is done but the SA @ SDAC PJ branch did it to my wife's ride. Single Unlock press --->> only unlock driver's side. Double Unlock press--->> unlock all doors.

I think it's standard. It's a safety feature.

I actually prefer this central locking device as I usually lock my doors immediately once I enter the car. No longer relied on those auto central locking device which auto lock your car after a certain speed or after pressing on the brakes

yup this feature is a standard feature but the original configuration is to unlock all doors at 1 button press

Do you guys find the remote to be insensitive with regards to distance from the car?

I think it's also a 'saftety' feature so that decvices nearby can't duplicate the frequency....

I think the code is always random, unlike the 'fixed' type commonly used previously.
That why car jacking is on the rise.
Also linked to the engine immobilizer.

Q : After activating the remote to lock the door, what happens If i use the spare key to unlock the door?

A: never tried but i know the answer to this... the car will open and u can drive off. This is due to the immobilizer chip inside your spare key. If u duplicate ur spare key and use it to open and drive off, this is another story... so keep your spare key safe!

But how do you deactivate the immobiliser using the spare key? Hmm.. need to try that someday.

how can I know if all doors are locked? In case like Proton: the central locking doesn't lock all the doors, thieves will be easy to steal things inside! If push start button, sure the car is dissapeared after you come back.

The engine immobiliser is disarmed automatically when you switch the ignition on with a correctly coded key. in this case our spare key is also a coded key similar to the remote key.

there is basically a small chip which is embedded inside your key. If you open/dismantle your key, you will be able to find it inside. For my other ride, I know that the size of the chip is real small like 1/8 of a 5 cent coin

as long the original/spare key is within a range with the immobiliser, the car can be drove away with no problems
