HELP: Fiesta LINK TO LOCK option Empty HELP: Fiesta LINK TO LOCK option

Post by joeaggas 2011-04-26, 12:08 am

Hi guys,

Last weekend, itchy finger went to play a bit with the Ext Power Folding Mirrors. I unchecked the Link to lock option under MENU -> VEHICLE -> PowerF Mirror Link. Stopped engine, locked car and went home sleep.
As a result, FoFi now don't auto close it's side mirrors when remote lock car.

But then, I decided to re-enable this option and to my 'wtf' surprise! the option disappears! No longer on the MENU -> VEHICLE -> ...

Anyone has faced this issue and have resulting keystrokes to re-enable this?

HELp....

pepsiman, did you deactivate LINK-TO-LOCK, stop the car, get out and lock it. Then unlock the car and activate it again?

I went to SDAC today again. Met David another FCM member here. Anyway, the problem that caused this menu option missing was; my back left passenger side door sensor malfunction. In other words defective. When open door, no notification on the UI screen.
I think it could be blessing in disguise that so happen I played with the settings.
However, by the frequency I'm visiting the service center, it's averaged at once every week.

Oh ya, my 2nd warranty claim since the tyre issue. Ouch.

Arg. Who would thought of the faulty door sensor being the rootcause for the issue.

Aiyo ma! Today went to SDAC to replace the door sensor. However, that was not the cause of it. SDAC technician also blur, because the LINK-TO-LOCK option still missing* *tsk *tsk.

Imagine I even more blur when they cannot find the cause. Anyway, they have refer the issue to higher up. Guess what warranty claim #3, changing one of the Control Units. Specifically I have no idea but I've left Fofi there to stay overnight.

Sigh, this weekend must buy 4D. So many units sold in Klang Valley, sui sui kena mine.

Oh btw, if not mistaken SDAC technician / CS officers also in this forum.

Post by joeaggas 2011-06-02, 9:18 am

Update for this problem. Seems like SDAC is tinkering and unable to pinpoint the cause for the missing menu option in my FoFi. I've sent the car there 4 times!

This last round, they provided me with a temporary showroom FoFi to enable me to commute while they took their time to find out. SDAC responded that a sensor need to be change and it'll take 3-4weeks for it to arrive. The frustration is, they cannot confirm to me that'll solve my problem. I don't mind waiting but I need confirmation that it'll solve the problem.

Since this Monday morning (30th May 2011) until today, I've been the one calling them every day asking for a progress. That's rather sad for SDAC and even I noticed their employee morale is rather low not taking into account the salesmen and women.

HELP: Fiesta LINK TO LOCK option Empty Re: HELP: Fiesta LINK TO LOCK option

Post by joeaggas 2011-09-22, 6:24 pm

Update..
Since my last phone call to them about the spare part (central display unit), I left as is, but no one from SDAC took the courtesy to call me that it has ARRIVED!

Therefore last week, I took the liberty to call in and check. TNS, the part has arrive but appointment slots were full even on weekdays (wah nowadays many malaysian no need to work office hours), ended up schedule to put in car yesterday (Wednesday 21 Sept 2011). I also to left the car there overnight, give them enough time to work on it.

Today I called to check on status and to my horror, the spare part also FAULTY! They need to re order and it'll take another 3 weeks. In my mind, all the 3 / 4-letter words began to accumulate at the back of my throat, ready to explode.

What can I do besides complain to his boss or his boss's boss? Tired....

i guess this is why they give 3 years free service and warranty...our cars are just an "experiment" for them to do "on job training" not a real job...very sorry for you. just hope that they will buckup to cater for the increasing no. of FoFi in Msia....

Guys/Gals,

Problem finally fixed by SDAC last Friday. Actually it was more of replacing the unit (workaround) which took no more than 1 hour.

Finally if you have issue relating to your central console/software; request for warranty from SDAC. Lesson: Please also remember to specifically remind the After Sales exec, before ordering that part, take a picture/photo of the part number as a percaution; because occasionally, Ford's cataloque system may not reflect what's been put into your unit.

SDAC suspect my Central Display unit is not meant for SEA region, assembly plant in Thailand could have put in neighboring region parts instead.
