Comparing L mode and OD off is like comparing apples and an oyster... Totally 2 different things...

L mode is only for slow speed extreme conditions, like approaching a reaalllly steep hill, or when your wheels got stuck on sand or mud... It acts by giving extra torque to the first gear... It is NOT supposed to shift up to 2nd, 3rd, or more... In the Fiesta S, it does shift up to protect the engine from numskulls who use it as if it was sports mode, and make the engine to rev to a higher point that it should...

But honestly, the engine braking when u're on OD off is not really that hard as compared to other cars... But better than playing with brakes only

TQ very much for the explanation carbonara. the function lies on whether OD is on or off rite...so to overtake a car if u don't have enough go at 6th gear just turn on OD then u get extra boost la kan?

Yep!... Try it out!

Other than slowing to a halt and going downhill, u can use it to maintain power at optimum revs... Like this, say u're driving on middle lane minding your own business. Then u see from your rear view mirror, a car coming fast in the fast lane. U feel the itch to play with the car. Then, u press OD off, your gear will drop to 5th and rev at mid to high powerband. When the car has passed u, pedal to metal, and preas OD off again to turn it on. Smile

This way, u'll never stuck at 6th gear low poweband.

Goah there are ao many ways u can use the OD off function. Enjoy!

Tried with OD off function, last weekend drove KL - Lumut, scratch Umm....not very responsive, what i means is it still have some lagging, before it really start to pull the cars.
1. push OD button once
2. press pedal to metal
3. Overtake cars
4. push OD button after overtaken cars
in steps 2, it is not so responsive untill rpm went to 3-4k.....
is that my steps is wrong? Embarassed
