Kuala Lumpur acid splasher claims 5 new victims, including 1-yr-old baby

KUALA LUMPUR - THE acid splasher has claimed five new victims, including a one-year-old baby, during a string of attacks on Friday and Saturday.

It is learnt the first attack occured at 9pm on Friday when two women in their 20s were walking along Jalan Pudu Lama.

The next attack occured barely an hour later on a woman in a parking lot in front of The Mall shopping center.

A woman and her one year old baby in the compound of her Persiaran Titiwangsa home at 3pm on Saturday became the fourth and fifth victim when the attacker splashed the burning liquid on them.

It is learnt that one of the victims, attacked on Friday suffered severe burns which could lead to her losing an eye and is currently warded in the Kuala Lumpur intensive care unit.

The rest of them received outpatient treatment at the hospital.

After a string of attacks since beginning of the year involving over 20 victims, the last reported case was in Mantin, Seremban on April 2.

City police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah was reported earlier as saying the police were taking the matter very seriously as the attacks were beginning to cause panic among city folks.

Despite a special task force being formed specifically to track down and apprehend this suspect, police have had little luck so far in this case.

The only lead police have into the identity of the suspect is that he is of dark complexion, rides either a Honda EX5 or Yamaha motorcycle with a carrier compartment in front.

1. March 2 - Eight Year 4 and Year 6 pupils and a teacher of SK Bukit Bandaraya in Jalan Bangkung, Bangsar were splashed with a liquid by a motorcyclist clad in black.

2. March 24 - Two marketing executives were splashed with acid as they were walking along Jalan Tun Sambanthan at 5.30pm.

3. March 25 - A 25-year-old history teacher, on the way to school, was attacked near the back gate of a school in Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad at 7am.

4. March 26 - A Frenchman and his female companion became the 13th and 14th victims of a corrosive liquid-splashing attack by a motorcycle duo in Jalan Conlay about 3pm.

5. April 2 - In Jalan Mantin, Negri Sembilan, a 27-year-old woman and her 18-year-old niece were attacked by two men on a motorcycle 9pm.

6. May 6 - Two women were splashed with acid when a motorcyclist attacked them from behind in Jalan Pudu Lama at 9pm.

7. May 6 - Thirty minutes later, a lawyer in her 30s, was attacked near a parking lot in front of The Mall shopping centre in Jalan Putra.

8. May 7 - A woman and her one-year-old baby were standing in her house compound in Persiaran Titiwangsa when the splasher rode by and threw the liquid at them at 3pm.

Wow! Ganasnya like that hancur la FoFi. Insurance won't cover, although he'll masuk 'kaku', he can claim against your insurance. Better think twice b4 langgar and gelek. Even a small dog, langgar can create significant damage.
