Now the road noise is muted and more a thud than a clang.
Even the music sounds better. Bass is less boomy.

Remove the seats, front and rear.
Remove the trim along the lower edge of door.
Lift up the carpet and the underlying felt pads
Stuck 10mm thick insulation sheets directly on the bare metal of the floor pan and also the boot area.
Total cost is less than RM150 but need some sweat and free time.

The insulation material comes with adhesive on one side. Just cut to size, peel of the adhesive backing and tampal.
You will need to buy the correct torx wrench (iirc size50)
to remove the seats and also the lower anchor point of the seat belts.
The end result is very satisfying.
It is especially apparent when going over the rumble strips approaching toll booths, junctions, etc.

Yesterday I removed the trim at the sides of the boot area, exposed the absorber well area and covered it with the insulation material.
This morning drove the Semenyih where some parts of the roads are rutted and badly patched.
Fuiyoh...the difference is fantastic.
I think all owners should try this cheap and easy DIY insulation.
It totally transforms the ride in terms of harshness and comfort.

I did it in stages but alas, never thot of taking pics.
it is relatively simply enough..
I started with the boot well area. No need trim removal or torx wrench..
Just take out the carpet, spare tire and tool kit.
Cut the insulation material to fit and cover all the bare metal surface you can see.
DO NOT COVER THE AREA OVER THE HOT EXHAUST PIPE.
This in itself reduces the sound significantly and motivated me continue and cover the entire floor pan.
I then moved to do the area under the rear seat, then the left side of the car, followed by the right half.
Finally did the side of the boot.
One can actually do it in about a couple of hours but old man like me just took it easy.
If anyone wants to take a ride and see if it is a worthwhile DIY can take a ride in my car.
I only drive it out to work on Saturdays so you can hook up with me then. Location is Tmn Maluri, Cheras

I used 10mm thick insulation sheets, open pore on one side.
The adhesive is on the open pore surface and this side is stuck to the metal surface.
Comes in 4 feet wide roll. For the whole car you will probably need 9 feet long sheet.

The front seats both need to be taken out.
It is easy to remove. Only 4 large torx screws on each seat.
The rear only need to remove the bench seat. The back rest no need to remove. No screw involved, only a small hook mechanism and two clips.
