How-To 'Stealth' HID install Fiesta Mk7

I know fitting HIDs has been covered before....but thought id share my thoughts and ideas.....

Anyway I really wanted them to be totally unseen when you look under the bonnet, so wanted the ballast within the headlight unit and wandered if these "slim" ballasts would actually fit......so I made a wooden template the same size to check.....turn out there is quite abit of room in the headlight unit...!!

I went for 4300k for best light output and the most "standard OEM look" also made the choice to spend a little extra for a kit with metal bases with ceramic insulators.....as you can see from the picture the actual light source point is exactly the same......so should maintain the same beam pattern. I also went for 35w kit as im sure they will be more than enough and less chance of dazzling people....

I wasn't to happy about cutting the original bulb clips...so got some holders with the slot already cut. You can find them HERE on eBay

The ballast / igniter unit.....makes me laugh as these places go on about how slim the ballasts are...BUT there is a separate igniter unit......but it does make installation easy....

Electronics in place in the head-unit unit.......plenty of space actually.....the main unit is secured with what is really license plate double sided tape (very well secured). There was a fair bit of time involved in routing the cables and making sure they don't rub on anything & don't snag on the headlight level adjustment motor.

The actual HID bulb cables do stick out a little more than standard........which I was worried the caps wouldn't go back on BUT...

They do...

You would struggle to tell anything is different, which is exactly what I wanted... I'm very happy with them and the light output is fantastic!
