Re: Boomerang Armrest for Fiesta
I just cam across this thread and wanted to let you know that we do have a Fiesta Armrest that is compatible with the Thailand built Fiestas. It is our new XT Armrest and it is slightly different than our North American version.
It has, however, come to my attention that the Malaysian Fiesta's may have one or two small differences that make the install a little more challenging that we may need to address and I would like to hopefully see if anyone on this site would be interested in helping confirm the information. Obviously, because we are the manufacturer, we would be more than willing to make it worth your while with some sort of promo code discount etc for members of the site.
This is what I need to get more info about.
1 - All European built Fiesta centre consoles have a "break away" on the upper/rear section of the console. This makes it easy to access the area under the console to install our armrest. Someone has brought it to my attention that the Malaysian cars may have this part sealed together as opposed to snapped together with molded clips. Here is what the Euro cars look like.
Notice how the panel is easily removed and replaced. If the Malaysian version does not do this it makes the install a little trickier.
2 - I need to know whether the Malaysian Fiestas look like the following image. Notice there are 4 threaded studs in this image. Two are for attaching the centre console bracket and the front two hold down the parking brake cable to the chassis. I was told that the front two on the Malaysian cars are not threaded studs with nuts but instead bolts that hold down the cable plate. This would be identical to how the Mazda 2 is built (same floor features) and if it is the case we have the right part designed and available for our M2 armrest. I just need to know if it would be required for the Malaysian Fiestas.
Any information you can share about this would be extremely appreciated and as I mentioned I would be more than happy to compensate you with a fantastic deal on one of our armrests. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Feel free to contact me via chris @ boomco . net too.
Thanks!
