Concerned Issues.... (Topic #1 updated with 18 issues)
I was just visiting FIM@FB and found this real nice comment by Joseph (which will no longer be visible on the 1st page of FIM real soon). As such, I would like to gather and share all info possible on the problems that we have/might have in future. Hopefully, during our routine checkup @ SDAC, we can rectify our problems, if any and how to prevent them from happening
Problems identified by Joseph:
1) gearbox oil seals leaking
2) rain seeping in through front windscreen/back side windscreen.
3) wheel nut opener gave way.
4) missing nuts in car boots.
5) rattling number plates.
6) loud engine noise during initial accelaration in cabin.
7) fuel lid fell off - filmsy clip
8.) wiper clip broke
9) watermark inside headlamps
10) towing cover missing - please email to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. SDAC will replace item for 1 time!!!
11) loose storage compartment lid
12) inadequate shape of carpet mat at the driver side
13) Driver's door hard to close properly - need extra force.
14) Uneven assembly between the gaps
15) Noisy gearbox
16) Missing nuts in car boots
17) Rusty Drive Shaft (Click me!!)
18) Crack on Spoiler for Fiesta S.(Click me!!)
So far, I have #6...

We can probably all list the issues to look out for here but suggest we probably need Madon's help to edit his post to update with the list so the top post always consist of everything?
Sounds like nice facts to have at the top! ^_^

Re: Concerned Issues.... (Topic #1 updated with 18 issues)
- Gearbox oil seals leaking.
No leaks detected so far and none on the car porch floor, gearbox performing smoothly and quietly. - Rain seeping in through front windscreen/back side windscreen.
Sedan - not affected maybe due to different design of the rear - Wheel nut opener gave way.
Never used the opener yet but I have a set of tools of my own in the boot (e.g. car jack, crosswheel nut opener, crowbar, warning triangle). - Missing nuts in car boots.
Never really checked closely. Shouldn't you be using the nuts of the tyre that you swapped out? I use back the same nuts for my 1995 Proton Wira (had to deal with 6 instances of flat tires because of "debris" on the roads). The tyre in the boot for my Wira is bolted on through the nut hole (hence the lack of additional nut). - Rattling number plates (I'm assuming that it refers to the sound seeping into the cabin).
Sedan - could not be heard maybe due to length of car boot. No rattling heard from number plate in front within the cabin. - Loud engine noise during initial acceleration in cabin.
Loud only during hard acceleration but not really loud by my standards. Engine noise on slow gradual acceleration is soft and muffled. - Fuel lid fell off - flimsy clip.
Fuel lid still okay after 10 refuels. I usually lightly tap to open and close the lid when refueling and only apply pressure on the 3 o'clock area of the lid. - Cool wiper clip broke.
No issues here so far even after driving from Kuantan to KL under rainy conditions last week. - Watermark inside headlamps.
No watermarks detected on close scrutiny. - Towing cover missing
Sedan - not affected due to no towing cover. - Loose storage compartment lid
Never used the compartment before, so hinge plastic is not warped due to use under high temperature environment or constant use. - Inadequate shape of carpet mat at the driver side
No issues here. Mat shape covers all areas nicely. - Driver's door hard to close properly - need extra force.
No issues here, be it closing from inside or outside. Rear left passenger door once in a while need a bit more force (definitely close easily with minimal strength if I keep another door open or window slightly rolled down, maybe to maintain equal pressure inside and outside). - Uneven assembly between the gaps.
Need to be more specific here on how big is the gap. So far all parts are fitted nicely. - Noisy gearbox
Refer to Point 1 above.

It gets frustrating when you get the thud sound but it's not closed properly. I've never experience in the testdrive unit I drove for 2 weeks and others. Need to get SC to adjust I guess.

RM 288? wow, thanks for the info. Now off to get some cable ties.Tristan wrote:Good post, don. At least now we know that FCM members do experienced the same problem
My car has the following problem:
6) loud engine noise during initial accelaration in cabin.
10) towing cover missing
15) Noisy gearbox
I just noticed that my tow cover was missing during 1k service. I have not even come to know of its existence since collecting my car. BTW, SDAC sells that towing cover at a ridiculous price of 288...and given its tendency to drop off, its equivalent to throwing your money on to the road everytime you drive. I know that some members in Facebook sort of screw their cap so that i won't fall off...

Re: Concerned Issues.... (Topic #1 updated with 18 issues)
i must be lucky haven't encountered most of the issues here. tow cover still on (i think, better check tomorrow).
just that my car plate behind is rattling all the time. i must press on the sdac butterworth to replace a better car plate number >.<
for my case instead of being harder to close the driver's door, i think my back passenger's doors are harder to close than the front doors.
